Can I use SOLAD Lights for Video and Photo use?
All SOLA models feature a set of high frequency LEDS that have been calibrated for use with video and photo applications. This means that even at high video shutter speeds no strobing is evident. This is true for using SOLA lights to illuminate the subject or when filming other divers equipped with SOLAS. We have lots of customers using SOLAD models for ‘off carry’ lighting purposes in this way.
All SOLA2011 and 2012 models will accept either a LockLine video mount base or hard ultralight ball mount.
Al SOLA 2012 models will accept the new style hand mount or pistol grip accesories.

In normal conditions it can take up to 8 seconds for the SOLA to recognize the charging signal.
Please ensure that both the sockets and charger pins are clean and in good condition. You can use a small amount of WD40 or similar contact cleaner to clean the sockets and pins. Make sure that any excess solvent is removed immediately after application and when clean dry off with a suitable soft cloth. Ideally use a small drill bit behind cloth to gently clean out the sockets by hand.
Please check that the pins and charger cable are in good condition and that no broken cables or frayed connections are evident and that your charger is plugged in and mains power is switched on.
What to Do Next
Most SOLA models feature a deep sleep mode to protect the battery from becoming completely discharged. If you have stored your SOLA without charging after use or if the light has been stored for several months even when fully charged the chances are that the unit has entered this deep sleep state.
To 'wake' the SOLA up we need to create multiple charge signals in quick succession so that the internal electronics recognize the charging sequence. To do this plug your charger into mains power and switch on at the wall. Plug the charger pins into the sockets on the rear of the light and wait 8 seconds.
If no charging is evident after 8-10 seconds remove the charging pins from the SOLA sockets. Next locate the pins loosely in the sockets and then rapidly make and break a connection by tapping the pins briefly into the sockets. After 5 or 6 connections plug the pins firmly home and wait 8 seconds. The SOLA should begin charging.
If the SOLA still fails to charge repeat the procedure this time moving the magnetic slide switch at the same time. If you are still having a problem then please return your SOLA to use for inspection and repair.
